The Spencer Center PTSO is a volunteer-led nonprofit that supports students, families, and staff at the Spencer Center for Gifted and Exceptional Students. Unlike a traditional PTA, our "S" is for Student — because our kids show up too.
Spencer Center is a Cincinnati Public magnet school for academically gifted learners in grades 3–12. Admission is by testing. Our building sits on stilts above the Ohio River floodplain — a landmark on the West End skyline.
Marian Spencer was a Cincinnati civil rights leader who led the fight to integrate Coney Island's Sunlite Pool and later served on City Council. Her legacy of persistence and equity guides our community.
Sapere Aude — Dare to Know. It's on our crest, and it's how our students show up: curious, brave, and ready to try hard things.
What the PTSO funds
- Classroom grants for teachers — supplies, books, and enrichment materials.
- Field trip scholarships so every student can participate, regardless of family income.
- Teacher & staff appreciation throughout the year.
- Community events — Fall Festival, 5K, 8th grade celebration, book fairs.
- Student-led clubs and service initiatives.
